BIDDEFORD, ME - announcing the Inaugural Dine Out Day for Seeds of Hope, Thursday August 7th, 2014

On Thursday August 7th, 2014, Biddeford and its surrounding communities will participate in a Dine Out Day for Seeds of Hope.

The Seeds of Hope Neighborhood Center is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit that offers hospitality and support to all those who pass through its doors. The neighborhood center is open 4 days a week, Tuesday through Friday, from 9AM to 1 PM, and offers an expanded continental breakfast/lunch, programs in nutrition, financial literacy and general health, and a comfortable space for conversation, reading, and other activities. It also advocates for those in need and focuses on long-term life progress through its Career Resource Center for resume creation, job application and interview preparation, as well as its Work Ready(tm) Program, a credentialed 60-hour training program designed to help people get ready to enter the workforce, and to stay in it.

In addition, as a part of Seeds of Hope, the In-A-Pinch Non-Food Essentials Pantry is open each second and fourth Tuesday of the month from 4 - 6PM, and offers non-food items that cannot be obtained through the SNAP program (i.e., food stamps), such as soap, toothpaste, toiletries, etc.

In conjunction with Seeds of Hope's new business partnership program, several area restaurants have generously offered to donate proceeds from sales on this day (and in the case of The Chef & the Gardener, from the week).

These generous host restaurants are participating:

  • Buffleheads - Hills Beach: Lunch
  • The Chef & The Gardener - Saco: Desserts for the week
  • Elements - Biddeford: Coffee
  • Fernleaf Bakery - Saco: Lunch
  • FO Goldthwaite's - Biddeford Pool: All day
  • Golden Rooster - Saco: Breakfast to 11:00 a.m.
  • Run of the Mill - Saco Island: Lunch
  • Wonderbar - Biddeford: Dinner
  • In addition, supporting Seeds of Hope through gift certificates are:

  • Dahlia's delights - Biddeford, and
  • Traditions - Saco
  • Seeds of Hope's business partnership program philosophy: Philanthropy is the willing offer of time, goods, services and money to nonprofits and causes - by people just like you, and organizations just like yours.

Serving as a "home base" in partnering with the City of Biddeford and South Street-area residents to revitalize the neighborhood, Seeds of Hope continues to meet basic human needs while building a just society. Please come on out to some great area restaurants on Thursday August 7th to support Seeds of Hope. Happy dining!
